Many battles yet to be fought..

Well, tomorrow is the start of a new semester,a new war,a new adventure.

It promises to be one heck of a journey, with many battles to be fought, countless challenges to be conquered, goals and dreams to be achieved.

To survive all these requires nothing short but a steely mind, hardened by past battle scars, and pure determination to keep pushing forward when the chips are down.

Are you going to give in when the impossible is staring right in front of you? when your mind is telling you it is not worth the pain? when everything you do seem hopeless compared to the mountains blocking out path to victory?

Blood will be shed,no doubt, new scars will emerge.

However, always remember the goal. What you are aiming for when achieved is going to be more than worth all the sacrifices and the pain. And even when you don't succeed in the end, alas, you will become an indefinitely better person in many ways.

With this, let's vow to always be optimistic and adhere to the saying 'WE CAN DO THIS!

''Hardwork is the accumulation of all the easy work that we did not do when we had the chance''

ACCA Exam Results! The good and the ugly..

Results! Results! Results!

During the entire class on Monday Morning, everyone could barely concentrate on what the lecturer was saying. In everyone's mind (mostly), results are coming out at 12pm! Gosh, how will i do? did i do enough to pass? what if i didn't get what i want?

Coincidentally , it was also my friend's Ee Laine's Birthday! (the GOOD)We had a nice time eating at this great restaurant called Ah Lyes Fish Curry Head after the class ended at 11am. YUMMY FOOD and we took lots of pictures and joking around. Some wanted to watch a movie after lunch then only check the results, but i think some were nervous about the results also when the clock struck 12pm.

Just then,as i was in the bathroom after eating, (the UGLY) Julian called. He straight away asked me about my results and told me his. Sincerely i was happy with him when he told me he passed all his papers beyond expectation, but i was a bit uncomfortable, let's put it that way, with the tone of his voice. He sounded insulting at the same time and more so on the next phone call. Sometimes i feel people should have the humility to treat people with respect.

So,after that,i did a stupid thing. In retrospect,i should not have told my classmates about Julian's call right after, because they all wanted to check their results right away. No movie, and the mood dampened a bit. Thus, they drove to Siew Lai's place to check altogether while i drove home to check mine. While driving home, honestly,i had cold shivers and was extremely nervous.

When i finally arrived,i did a prayer and prepared. Signed in into Hotmail, and immediately when i did that,i received an email ''RESULTS ACCA ONLINE''. Clicked on it,could barely breath and scrolled down slowly. PASS,PASS,PASS,PASS. I should have been very happy, and i was,but i felt a tinge of disappointment when i saw F4-80 Marks. I tried my best, but sometimes maybe the luck of the questions was against me.

Overall,a frantic day. To one of my friend,do not give up ok. There is always a second chance. Strive harder next time!

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH,YOU GET TOUGHER!

Another piece of wisdom from ms Joyce,my f6 lecturer.

"WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH,YOU GET TOUGHER WITH IT!"

I personally think it is so true considering my past week. First off, after my class on Monday, wanting to steal precious moments to release stress, went to watch Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 alone right after class. Lol. It was a great movie nonetheless! Plenty of action and tense moments. I have to say,John Travolta is a brilliant actor. Go watch it! I lost count though how many times the Ministry censored the word F**K..

This whole week i have been particularly occupied by the Sunway Toastmasters Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest . I kept on changing my speech! My final presented speech was made a day before the real contest!

Anyway, jeng jeng jeng! When i finally presented my humour speech on contest nite on Thursday July 30,i would say it was better than i expected. Got people to laugh out loud more than once. The bummer thing was i went overtime by 12 seconds! haih.. sad case, but great experience just to know i can make people laugh.. hehe..another milestone achieved.. A note-the audience was quite big, very encouraging to see and ACCA students were there too! woo hoo!

As for the Evaluation Contest,i managed to win 2nd runner up spot. Honestly, being the first speaker to give my evaluation before the other 4 ,i thought i didn't do too well. Unexpected but quite happy. Gives me motivation to keep on improving. For all you guys and gals out there who want to get involved in something inspirational, join Toastmasters! Believe me,it is life changing!

Happy news for me this week was celebrating my dear friend Sean's surprise birthday party! WOO HOO! He was too speechless to speak.. haha.. had lots of fun, food was great, fooled around towards the end,it was just fantastic that night! Happy turning 21,bro!

Now,trying to juggle all this with my studies is actually quite tough. Sacrifices have to be made ( i haven't seen my dear gf in a while) and push when others are still. The whole exam cycle of Progress Test 1, Progress Test 2, Mock Exam, Exam Driven Course, Final Acca Exam is about to begin soon. Hard? you bet. And all in the space of 4 months. sometimes,i really do wonder why some people join ACCA. All this for a measely 2 weeks holiday after that before the new semester starts again. You cant really do anything else besides studying.

But like Ms Joyce say,if you aim for the sky, even if you fall, you will land on the golden trees.. so just tell yourself ,take one thing at a time, and you will make it through, not just passing, but with flying colours! Go go go!

NEVER DOUBT YOURSELF IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING!

First off, my apologies for not updating my blog earlier. A lot of things happened simultaneously in the past week.

Well,just a quick summary-
1) Studies and lessons are picking up. Trying my best to catch up and adapt. Hopefully it works out well.
2) My June 2009 exam results are coming out on AUGUST 17! Not to mention it is Progress Tests week! Gambateh!
3) Currently reading a book written by a person widely regarded as the best mutual fund stockpicker in the 1990s- ''BEATING THE STREET'' by Peter Lynch. So far,it has been really absorbing, aside from a few friends comments that they can never read such books.lol
4) Finally did something with my virtual investing account at INVESTOPEDIA.COM. went and bought around 10 stocks. So far, after 3 days, average annual return 3.89 %. Ps-my Ebay stock went up 15 % in 2 days! too bad i only bought 250 units, too small amount. Right now though ,my largest amount is in SATYAM COMPUTER SERVICE,the company who got involved in a scandal. Price currently $5,but it's a solid company. Updates on my investing journey in future posts. For everyone out there who wants to go into investing-try out this website!

5) My Humourous Speech contest is in 1 week!haven't been getting around it
T.T

Anyway, what has all is got to do the title of the blog!
Well,i have found some great advice from my f6 lecturer, and this is one of them.
If you want to pursue something, believe in it and just go all out heartedly!
Never doubt yourself!
Keep reminding yourself that you can do it!
People may doubt you,may want to see you go down, may try to bring you down with them, but have the faith in yourself!
In the end ,shall u even fail,at least you know you have learned something!
Keep on trying!
Always see the greatest problem as the greatest opportunity!
To SUCCESS!

WHAT A LEARNING EXPERIENCE!

WOW!

As i am writing this post, assignments and homework await me,there is a contest coming up which i have not prepared anything, and i haven't had the time to read my magazines that are lying by my table.

By the way,i just signed a 2 year new subscription for Time and Fortune magazines =) go figure!

Honestly though, the reason i said WOW is because this week i have gained so much!

Firstly, being elected as a class rep for 2 subjects presents a new challenge for me. May i learn a lot from it :)

Secondly,i realise that it really works.. The saying ''treat others the way you want to be treated''. I've been keeping in mind that saying and it really does makes your life more beautiful and meaningful!

Thirdly,i met a really successful person (in my eyes) in the form of my F6 lecturer. Do not take it the wrong way,but she epitomises the kind of personality i would like to have in the future.
Ie-loving life doing what she loves to do, passionate, fearless, humorous and a go getter!
Being an Acca student with First class honours in Sunway, she is a living example of great role model!

Time is MONEY! I recently bought a book by the famous Robert Kiyosaki(of Rich Dad Poor Dad fame) and this is one of the most important lessons. Every minute you waste is another opportunity wasted. For example ,if you waste 6 hours a day,and assuming your life span is 80 years, you would have in the end wasted 20 years of your life!

So ask yourself rite now, ARE YOU MAKING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR TIME? OR ARE YOU FACEBOOKING,MSN-ING, SKYPING, MY SPACE-ING, SMSING ADDICT ALL THE TIME? IF YES, CUT IT OUT!

One more thing though, In chasing the biggest things in life,we tend to miss out the smallest things that means the most to us which are right in front of us. Never make that mistake!

The War Begins Soon!

So,2 more days till war begins... AGAIN!

Seriously,i dun believe i have ever seen a course which has fewer holidays in a YEAR than ACCA!

FACT- IN AN ACCA YEAR, 3 weeks holidays in June, and 2 weeks holidays in December!

I DARE ANYONE TO CHALLENGE THAT :) in a good way :)

oh well,i guess, life as a money maker has to has its costs..

Well,to sum up my past 3 weeks of freedom, at the end of the day,i'd like to think that i have made the most out of it..

Most memorable moment-travelling myself with my gf on a fantastic holiday in Redang.. I went to heaven, did things that i really enjoyed(snorkelling, canoeing 50m in middle of the sea, getting cramp leg while snorkelling).. haih, good times do past so fast!
Paradise

Spending time with friends-one of things i enjoyed most was spending time with my old buddies.. My faithful buddy,Naveen,Chen,Eddy,Tana too.. seriously, may our friendship last forever... enjoyed playing games at chen's house, makan makan, playing sports,movies.. for a guy to say 'i love you guys',dun call me gay but i do feel that way..lol.. thanks and stay in touch k! No matter what!

Movies-gosh,i watched so many movies! Kinda like a movie expert ady.. really enjoyed it.. ps-watch State of Play!

Others-reading,catching up in the net,etc..

One more thing- On my birthday,i had a sweet time with my gf.. thanks baby,i love you.. and i got a pleasant surprise from my parents..

SO,before ACCA battle begins,a note to myself and to my fellow acca mates again, push yourself like you have never done before! NO VICTORY,NO SACRIFICE!

TO ACCA!

---Easy does it---

A SPECIAL NOTE TO MY FRIEND IZZATI,WHO HELPED ME WITH THE COMMENTS ISSUE, THANK YOU!! POSTING OF COMMENTS ARE NOW ENABLED! :):):) FEEL FREE TO RAVE OR RANT!

ACCA EXAMS OVER!

WELL, the exams are over..

FINALLY..

but somehow, when the lady mc announced ''attention students, the time has ended.. the exam is now over...." i didnt exactly jump for joy..

it took a while to sink in..

then,i realised the real reason..

it was more
RELIEF than anything else..

i still remembered the 4 weeks studying period..

everyday was dedicated (almost everyday) to one paper

F4-CORPORATE AND BUSINESS LAW..

a paper which requires pure memorising work.. so there i was, just memorising over and over and over again..
in the end,when f4 ended,i was emotionless..
didnt know how to react..
i had post traumatic exam stress... PTES syndrome (or PEST SYNDROME? Pest factors?) in the nite,i would find myself still recalling all the facts of law even after the exam ended.. crazy..

well, ACCA is actually a fantastic course..

but definitely not one for the faint hearted..

You have been warned :)
